What hail does to a shingle roof
A one-inch stone bruises the fiberglass mat and knocks granules loose. The roof looks fine from the ground; the bruise cracks over a couple of summers, the mat weathers, and the leak shows up in year two or three — usually after your insurer's one-year claim window has closed. Wind-driven hail also creases shingle tabs and dents soft metals: vents, flashing, gutters, the AC condenser fins.
What we do: inspect after every named storm, mark a 10-by-10 test square on each slope the way the adjuster will, photograph every hit, and tell you whether you have a claim. If you don't, we say so.
How to roof for it
